About Winterfield Farms, Inc. (est. 1982)

• Is owned and managed by Connie Winters, who is the head instructor and trainer
• Winterfield Farms, Inc. is part of a larger family farm that was once a monastery and a tavern. There are many signs of the history of the area on the trails around the farm
• Has been involved in the horse show world as a training and breeding farm of Thoroughbred hunters and jumpers since it’s inception.
• Farm students and horses include many winners from the hunter breeding divisions thru the International Hunter Futurities, NAL finalists, and many other year end division awards

Professional Staff

Connie Winters

After graduation from IUP with a degree in biology and many years as a 4-H member riding games & western, she became interested in hunters, jumpers and dressage. She did extensive showing throughout the 70’s as an amateur before building Winterfield Farms, Inc. and turning professional. She stood the late TB stallion WAR FLASH whose progeny still grace the hunter jumper and dressage rings with their flashy good looks and tractable personalities. As a 4-H horse leader and coach of the IUP Equestrian team for many years, Connie especially enjoys working with students to help them reach their goals with their horse in competitions. She is a professional member of the USEF and USHJA. She also owns and operates CONNIE WINTERS’ KENNELS, INC. a pet care resort, located near the farm. www.conniewinterskennel.com

Horses for Sale

• BIG BAT (2001) TB. Bay gelding by Grand Slam & out of Tipically Irish. 16.1 H. Ribbons in his first show last fall. Loves to jump.  Has been used for intercolligate team lessons throughout the winter. $7000.00
• Irish Fiddle (2003) Reg TB with the size, substance and movement of a warmblood. 16.3+ Hands. Dark Bay with beautiful heart shaped blaze. Gelding.  He was very sucessful in the USEF Hunter Breeding Divisions  and has continued his showing career , now doing PRE-GREENS. $28,000.00 A must try horse before you buy!
• There are several horses coming available very soon- an older seasoned jumper, a broodmare in foal, and a couple of horses off the track that are looking for  new jobs.  Call or check back for more information regarding any of these horses.

Current Activities

• The show season is underway and the farm is busy prepping each group of horses for their next show.  Our latest edition, Neva will make her debut in the hunter ring.  Is is only 4 but goes around like she has been doing this all of her life.  She is a very flashy black and white paint, so watch for her.
• Emmie and Melanie has been  working very hard on several new changes in their riding style and it is starting to pay off.  They are planning on  the Sewickly Hunt show and then on to State College for starters.
• Fiddle and Coco are working hard under Kristen, who finally admits that hunters can be fun too!
• We have couple new very young riders, Ally and Jade, who are keeping Lucy, our lesson pony, busy and who hope to be showing very soon.
• Maria will be joining us to take some dressage lessons for the summer as she untakes post graduate classes at IUP. 
• Renovations on the barn are also underway.  There are many improvememts being planned.  Stop by for a visit and see the changes we are making to keep the horses even more comfortable
