Professional Staff:

Connie Winters

After graduation from IUP with a degree in biology and many years as a 4-H member riding games & western, she became interested in hunters, jumpers and dressage. She did extensive showing throughout the 70’s as an amateur before building Winterfield Farms, Inc. and turning professional. She stood the late TB stallion WAR FLASH whose progeny still grace the hunter jumper and dressage rings with their flashy good looks and tractable personalities. As a 4-H horse leader and coach of the IUP Equestrian team for many years, Connie especially enjoys working with students to help them reach their goals with their horse in competitions. She is a professional member of the USEF and USHJA. She also owns and operates CONNIE WINTERS PET RESORT. a pet care resort, located near the farm. www.conniewinterspetresort.com

Current Activities

The IUP Hunt Seat Equestrian team had a great show season this year, with many great ribbons at every show. The team had the reserve HI-SCORE rider at the last show of the fall season. Our captain, Paige was HI POINT rider of the show this spring and went on to compete at Regionals, finishing 4th in both of her classes. All of the riders have made great strides with their riding skills and the team finished the year with great ribbons and lots of new skills. They are now starting preparations to host a two day intercolligate horse show at Grier School in Oct. Congratulations to the whole team! If you are attending IUP and like to ride, come join us!

Lesson schedules are back to normal now that team lessons are done for the semester and Connie is back up and running after her surgery. Show schedules are being put together for the year and include a variety of levels of shows to make room in the schedule for some of our youngest riders. We have several young riders itching to get out and horse show.Ally and her new pony are practicing hard to learn to canter, so they can go to the shows with the "big" kids. If you would like to be part of our group, just give us a call or email.

Winterfield Farms wants to congradulate Kristen Whiz on their acceptance and participation at Equine Affair in Columbus, Ohio. She rode Whiz in the jumper clinic with Neal Shapiro. Great Job! We are very proud of everything you are doing!
